Volcanos

El Salvador is home to 23 active volcanos which are part of the circum-pacific Ring of Fire. At the foot of the capital of El Salvador rests El Boqueron, a stratovolcano. It is expected to erupt every 100 years with the last significant volcanic eruption in 1917.

With 23 active volcanoes, the most per area of any country in the Americas, El Salvador is known as "The Land of Volcanoes." Level land here is a rarity, yet agriculture has sustained this smallest and most densely populated nation in Central America and served as the driving force of its economy.
